Law of Attraction
"By the powerful Universal Law of Attraction, you draw to you the essence of whatever you are predominantly thinking about. So if you are predominantly thinking about the things that you desire, your life experience reflects those things. And, in the same way, if you are predominantly thinking about what you do not want, your life experience reflects those things" - Abraham in "Ask and It is Given"
It seems that everyone is talking about the Law of Attraction these days, thanks, in large part, to the launch of Rhonda Byrne's phenomenally successful film "The Secret" a few years ago. This was followed up with many book publications by the contributors to the film, as well as book and audio versions of "The Secret".
Conscious Creation
A long time before this I was working with conscious creation or manifestation techniques but this recently produced information brought a clarity to these ideas and a simple explanation as to how and why they worked. Consciously tapping into this law can make a vast difference in all areas of your life, from health, prosperity and relationships on the outside to your sense of peace, wellbeing and ease on the inside.
"The Secret" has been criticised by some for being shallow, over-simplified and materialistic. I can see why these criticisms arise, however I am grateful that "The Secret" provided an entry level for this information and inspired many to discover more. We also must realise our own self-imposed limitations where material things are concerned. We may have been brought up to believe that money is evil, that you can't be spiritual and materialistic, that rich people are not "good" people, that poverty is a virtue. None of these things are true and we all know that life is easier when we are affluent and that money gives us freedom of choice and the ability to do things we enjoy. We are spiritual beings having a physical experience in a physical Universe, so let's get creative, play with it and have fun!
Universal Laws
I am also currently working through a programme called the 11 Forgotten Laws, by Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey, giving me a greater understanding of other laws that work in with the Law of Attraction and a deeper insight.
My favourite and most trusted sources of information about the Law of Attraction are the Teachings of Abraham. The term Abraham refers not to an individual but a Non-Physical Stream of Collective Consciousness, channelled by Esther Hicks. This is explained fully in the book "Ask and it is Given".
I would thoroughly recommend all the Abraham books by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Although the message is simple and always the same, it is good to read how it applies in varying situations and this re-inforces the message.
A Few Tips
In order to focus your mind in the direction of the things that you want to materialise, there are several techniques that you can use:
1. Be constantly aware of the things in your life for which you feel gratitude and appreciation. This turns your focus to what is working and what feels good and brings you more of it.
2. The mind responds to pictures rather than words, so see the things and the situations you want to create in vivid detail in your mind. Creating a Vision Board is extremely helpful in helping you focus visually on your desires.
3. Be aware of your emotions. Abraham describes the "Emotional Guidance System" as a way of navigating toward what we want to create. In simple terms, when we feel good, we are moving toward what we want. When we feel bad, we are moving away from what we want. So be alert and always move toward better feeling thoughts. Even if you can reach for only a slightly better-feeling thought, you are moving back in the right direction.
4. Decide what you do want! Many people are drifting in life without even being in touch with their true desires. So allow yourself time to clarify what you want. What would enhance your life experience right now? The contrast that we experience helps us in this - when we identify things that we don't want, we become clearer on what we do want.
5. Trust that if you are focusing on what you want and your thoughts are predominant in that direction, that your desire is on it's way to you. Allow the Universe to deliver at the optimum time for you. Just get out of the way and let it come. This is what Abraham calls the "Art of Allowing".
These are just a very few simplified pointers that may help you on the way and I will refer to information on the Law of Attraction in some of my blog posts. I sincerely hope you will find joy in manifesting your desires, for everything is yours and there is more than enough for everyone. Have fun!
